The VERA Action Menu is the heart of the VERA application and accesses most of VERA's functions. It is accessed by clicking the Go button in the Requirements, Test Plan, Test Lab, Test Runs, and Defects modules.

The VERA Action Menu is visible in dialog windows (e.g. create/edit windows) of QC/ALM, but it is only accessible from the main toolbar of each of the modules listed above. Pressing the icon in the toolbar of a dialog window will result in a message box reminding you to return to the main module and use the main toolbar. This is a necessary limitation of the system.

The available actions displayed in the VERA Action Menu are based on the current user's permissions and on the current state of the items selected in the QC/ALM user interface:

Requirements: When a requirement is selected, the available actions are based on the state of the selected requirement and its children in the Requirement Tree.

Test Plans: When a test plan is selected, the available actions are based on the state of that test plan.

Test Folders: When a test folder is selected, the available actions are based on the children in the Subject Tree (tests).

Test Sets: When a test set is selected, the available actions are based on the state of that test set and the test runs contained within the test set.

Test Set Folders: When a test set folder is selected, the available actions are based on the children in the Test Set Tree (test sets and test runs).

Test Runs: When a test run is selected, the available actions are based on the state of that test run.

Defects: When a defect is selected, the available actions are based on the state of that defect.

Given that the VERA Action Menu is context-sensitive based on the selected item and its children, slow performance will occur when selecting an item with a large number of children. This is because VERA must query QC/ALM for information about the selected item, and then must also discover all of the item's children and query for information about each child. When slow performance occurs, the user can either wait for the Action Menu to load or press Cancel on the VERA "Loading" screen to cancel loading the Action Menu.
